Looks like the cargo trunk has undergone another change. Indentations giving room for the seat back is showing in a newer model from late 2021. Fit and finish improvements may have given a better water seal at the top of the trunk where it meets the upper structure.

This change may have happened due to safety concerns. For instance, in case of accident, the passenger's head could incur more damage without the indentation to allow for the headrest.
