We now know Utah will be targeted very soon for Arcimoto sales with the change in law from HB 391. A new strategy is taking hold in some states, like Utah and NY, that rewrites the autocycle definition that required a steering wheel to “steering mechanism.” This opens the door to treating the Arcimoto FUV, Deliverator, Rapid Responder, and future Truck more like a car, bypassing the need for a motorcycle endorsement. In some states like Oregon, carveouts or exceptions are made for vehicles with 3 wheels, seatbelts, and federal crush tested roofs in order to avoid requiring motorcycle endorsement and helmet.
Simplifying the Autocycle definition by removing the need for a steering wheel clears the way for more sales, and thus makes the state more attractive for Arcimoto to set up rentals and service technicians.
