Arcimoto FUV Door Hinge

Had to do some surgery on one of the doors. We have an older Evergreen and the rear doors hang below the bottom of the FUV so they like to get caught on stuff like trailer ramps and large potholes. So we removed the one rear door thinking the glue between the metal and plastic broke. It did not. Instead, the bottom hinge pin bent just a bit. It made it hard to open/close plus the bottom of the door stuck out. Fortunately, it was a 2 second fix with a wrench. Apparently the metal is a bit soft.

Once you unbolt the tether, it takes seconds to remove the door. The latch mechanism is pretty sophisticated for a motorcycle. We felt the design of the door was the best they could do with the FUV tubular design. Doors were an afterthought.

Some pictures of the hinge. Only 4 pushpins hold the inside top panel. 4 bolts hold the hinge system, it just slides out - which is nice because we had to bend one of the hinges back just a smidge. The 4 bolts also allow you to adjust the door so that it latches correctly. We installed the door with the bolts loose then latched it in place. We tightened the screws and tested the door. Took a couple tries as our door likes to sag and bind.

Nevertheless, Rei is back at it. Still has an HV light from the pothole (water was all over) but I’m hoping full resets over a few days helps with that. She runs just fine.
